Deering Oaks, Public park in Portland, United States.

Deering Oaks stretches across 55 acres of land, featuring a large pond, baseball fields, tennis courts, and extensive walking paths throughout the grounds.

The City of Portland purchased this land from the Deering family in 1879 for $3,000, transforming it from a private estate into a public recreational space.

The park houses a Victorian-style castle building from 1894, which served as a warming hut for winter activities and represents period architecture.

Multiple entrances on State Street, Deering Avenue, and Park Avenue provide access to the park, with nearby public transportation stops for convenient visits.

The park's pond, which originally connected to ocean tides, transforms into an ice skating rink during winter months, continuing a century-old tradition.
