Eldred World War II Museum

The Eldred World War II Museum spans three floors displaying military artifacts, vehicles, uniforms, and a substantial research library. The collections range from personal items to large exhibition pieces documenting wartime experiences.

From 1942 to 1945 the town operated a munitions plant manufacturing mortar, fuses, and millions of bombs for the war effort. This production facility played a direct role in supporting the military campaigns overseas.

The Mitchell Paige Hall displays personal items from the Medal of Honor recipient, including his formal dress uniform and military decorations earned during service. Visitors can explore how a local hero's story shaped the community's connection to the war.

The museum is located on Main Street and opens Tuesday through Saturday, with schedule adjustments during winter months. Visitors should allow time to explore all three floors and the interactive areas.

The museum houses a functional World War II submarine periscope that visitors can operate themselves. There is also a tank simulator where visitors control miniature tanks across model fortifications.
