Fairyland Park, Amusement park in Kansas City, US.
Fairyland Park was an amusement park located on Prospect Avenue featuring various rides and attractions for visitors. The grounds included roller coasters, a large Ferris wheel, and a swimming pool that drew crowds during warm months.
Salvatore Brancato, a Sicilian immigrant, founded the park in 1923 and operated it for more than five decades. The venue closed in 1977 after facing competition from newer facilities and damage from severe weather.
The park hosted performances by African American jazz musicians during the 1930s, making it a gathering place for music lovers in the city. These events shaped the local music scene and gave the venue cultural significance beyond its rides.
The park no longer operates and exists only as a historical site in the city today. The area around the former location is now a quiet neighborhood that differs from its bustling past.
The Wildcat roller coaster was built in 1967 following an arson incident and was later relocated to another amusement park. This ride outlasted the park itself and continues to operate in a different state.
