Huntington Tower, Art Deco high-rise building in Akron, United States.
Huntington Tower is an Art Deco high-rise consisting of 27 floors above ground, with a facade of white brick and terra cotta that shapes the city skyline. Eight elevators serve the building, and its restored lobby features Tennessee marble throughout the interior.
The building was erected in 1931, replacing the neo-Gothic Hamilton Building that previously stood on this site. It remained the tallest structure in Akron for several decades, shaping the city's development during that period.
The ground floor once held WAKR radio studios from 1940 to 1953, where local broadcasts and entertainment programs shaped the daily routines of residents in the area.
The building is located at 106 King James Way and is easily recognizable from the street. Access to the interior is straightforward through the lobby with functional elevators that move efficiently between floors.
The television mast atop the structure reaches a total height of 137 meters and served as a recognizable landmark for travelers and commuters for many years. It was previously operated by WEAO, the local television station that broadcast signals across the region.
