Ferry Field, Athletics stadium in Ann Arbor, United States.
Ferry Field is a multipurpose outdoor sports facility at the University of Michigan with areas designed for track and field events and various athletic activities. The venue sits on campus between Ray Fisher Stadium and the Intramural Sports Building.
The facility served as the home stadium for Michigan Wolverines football from 1906 to 1926 before the team relocated to the larger Michigan Stadium. This period marked the early years of college football at the university.
Olympic champion Jesse Owens established three world records and tied another during the 1935 Big Ten Conference Championships at this location.
The grounds are located on the university campus along South State Street and bordered by other athletic facilities. Visitors should note this is an active university training and competition venue.
Businessman Dexter Ferry donated twenty acres of land and funded construction of a brick wall with an ornamental gate designed by renowned architect Albert Kahn. This gate remains a recognizable feature of the grounds today.
