Bình Định

Bình Định is a province in south central Vietnam that stretches between sea and mountains. Sandy beaches alternate with rocky coves, while valleys and hills shape the interior landscape.

An 18th-century rebel movement arose here that changed the course of Vietnamese history. Ruins of old temple towers recall earlier kingdoms that ruled this area centuries ago.

The name comes from a historical administrative region and now refers to a coastal area with lively markets along the main roads. Fishing boats return to small harbors in the morning, while rice paddies shape the countryside behind.

A main highway connects the region with other parts of the country, passing through flat coastal sections and hilly stretches. Travelers heading north or south cross through this area as a natural route.

A river empties near the coast and forms a wide delta with canals winding through fields and villages. Locals still use these waterways today for transport and to irrigate their farmland.
