Bình Liêu

Bình Liêu is a rural district in northeastern Vietnam's Quảng Ninh province, dominated by mountainous landscapes with deep valleys and forested slopes. Small villages dot the terrain, featuring traditional houses built with local materials and connected by winding paths through the hills.

The district was established during the formation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and remained as an integral part of Quảng Ninh province. Its strategic location along the Chinese border shaped its development and administrative structure over the following decades.

The district houses multiple ethnic groups including Tay, Dao, San Chi, Kinh, and Hoa populations, each maintaining their distinct traditions and customs.

The district is best reached by bus from Hanoi or by flying to Van Don airport followed by local transportation options. The best travel period is October to April, when weather conditions are dry and roads are easier to navigate.

The district marks the border with China through 64 border markers, with marker 1305 located at the highest point of the mountainous boundary region. These historical stones remain visible today and are scattered throughout the landscape.
