Established in 1966, the museum occupies a former French Ministry of Information building from 1937, which later served as a Catholic boarding school.
The museum exhibits ancient Champa stone carvings, Buddhist sculptures, and modern Vietnamese paintings that represent different artistic periods and regional styles.
The museum provides guided tours in multiple languages, with admission fees of 150,000 VND, and remains closed during lunch hours from 11:30 to 13:30.
A section of the museum focuses on wartime art pieces depicting national defense themes through traditional Vietnamese lacquer techniques and silk paintings.
