Trường Sơn Cemetery, War cemetery and memorial in Gio Linh, Vietnam.
The cemetery spreads across gentle hills, where white gravestones are arranged in concentric circles that fan out in all directions. The site lies in Truong Son village within Gio Linh district and includes graves organized by province and hamlet.
The site was established two years after the war ended to give fallen soldiers a dignified resting place. Many of those buried had previously fought along the Ho Chi Minh Trail and were later transferred here from different regions.
Relatives come here and bring incense sticks and flowers, which they place on the white gravestones while praying quietly. The gestures show the deep respect for the deceased that is rooted in Vietnamese tradition and passed down through generations.
A visit takes about an hour, depending on how far you walk between the rows. The paths are mostly paved and walkable even in wet conditions, though sturdy footwear can be helpful.
