Innfjorden, Rural area in Rauma Municipality, Norway.
Innfjorden is a rural area in Rauma Municipality surrounded by mountains that rise between 1,200 and 1,800 meters on three sides. The valley spreads over a compact space with farms, scattered buildings, and the Romsdal Fjord bordering it to the north.
A major tunnel opened in 1991, replacing an older road route that was frequently closed by avalanches and other hazards. This project greatly improved connection to nearby towns and made travel through the valley much safer.
The settlement has kept its farming traditions while adding modern buildings like a school, kindergarten, and a chapel that serve the local community.
The area is located about 10 kilometers southwest of Åndalsnes along European Route E136 and is easy to reach by car. From here you can access mountain trails and outdoor activities in the surrounding region.
The steep valley walls attract adventurers, particularly those who practice BASE jumping from the cliffs. Few visitors realize that this quiet farming area has become a destination for extreme sports enthusiasts from around the world.
