Bispen is a mountain reaching 1,462 meters in Rauma Municipality, forming part of a distinctive peak group with Kongen and Dronninga. The landscape around these three summits features steep rock faces, green valleys, and sweeping views across the surrounding Romsdal region.
Access to this peak dates back to the 18th century when old horse trails crossed the region. The construction of the famous Trollstigen road in 1936 permanently transformed how people could reach and climb the summit.
The name Bispen means the Bishop in Norwegian and fits perfectly with its neighboring peaks Kongen and Dronninga, representing King and Queen. These three summits form a symbolic trio that has captured the imagination of hikers and locals for generations.
Multiple routes like the North Ridge, South Ridge, and East Ridge offer different difficulty levels for climbers of varying abilities. Visitors should bring sturdy gear since weather at this elevation can shift quickly and conditions can become challenging without warning.
The summit attracts extreme sports enthusiasts and serves as a launch point for base jumpers and wingsuit flyers during summer months. This activity has made the peak a destination for thrill-seekers who launch from the steep rock faces.
