Markus Church, Church building in St. Hanshaugen district, Oslo, Norway.

Markus Church is a church building in the St. Hanshaugen district of Oslo with a two-story structure featuring exposed brick facades. The building displays a three-nave layout with clear architectural lines and functional interior organization.

The building was designed in 1927 by architect Sverre Knudsen and combines elements of Norwegian Baroque Revival with Neoclassical style. Its construction marked an important religious addition to the developing city during that period.

The church serves as a gathering place for the local community and hosts regular worship services and events throughout the year. Its interior reflects the artistic vision of its era with carefully crafted design details.

The building sits on a slope and is accessed from Ullevål Street via a staircase, while another entrance is available from Schwensen Street. The interior accommodates around 530 people and is straightforward to navigate.

The building houses a rare organ by Josef Hilmar Joergensen with 34 voices that remains complete and intact today. This instrument is among the last fully preserved Romantic organs still found in Norway.
