Alvheim field, Oil and gas field in North Sea, Norway
Alvheim field is an oil and gas production site in the North Sea off Norway, with subsea installations spread across the seafloor at depths between 120 and 130 meters. A floating production vessel collects crude oil and connects to multiple wells below through an integrated network of pipelines and systems.
The field was discovered in 1998 and received production licenses in 2003, followed by royal approval in 2004. Operations began in the mid-2000s as part of Norway's broader expansion of North Sea oil and gas development.
The field represents Norway's commitment to energy production, managed under stringent Norwegian maritime regulations while maintaining international operational standards.
The main production vessel spans about 250 meters in length and holds significant quantities of crude oil before transport to refineries. Visits are not possible as this is an active operation at sea with strict safety protocols.
The facility uses heat recovery systems from exhaust turbines to recycle waste energy and reduce emissions. This advanced approach shows how modern offshore operations minimize energy waste during production.
