Bangui Wind Farm, Wind power station in Bangui, Philippines
Bangui Wind Farm is a coastal wind installation in Bangui, Philippines, where a row of tall towers stands along the bay shore generating electricity from the wind. The turbines rise just behind the beach and rotate above the flat coastal land facing the South China Sea.
International experts tested wind conditions in Bangui Bay in the late 1990s and found the area suitable for this type of power generation. The first towers went up in 2005, with additional units added in later phases to expand capacity.
Farmers in Bangui continue to cultivate crops and graze livestock between the turbines, showing how traditional livelihoods adapt alongside modern energy production. Visitors often see water buffalo resting in the shadow of the tall towers.
A paved road runs alongside the installation and offers views of the towers and the sea, while strong wind is common especially in the afternoon. Visitors can walk or cycle along the route but should prepare for open terrain and little shade.
Each turbine wears a white coating refreshed regularly to prevent corrosion from sea air. The blades turn slowly enough that visitors can follow the movement clearly, creating a calming rhythm above the shore.
