The Igreja Matriz de São Sebastião displays a combination of Gothic and Renaissance architecture with a prominent bell tower overlooking the village.
Built between 1531 and 1547, the church underwent substantial restoration in 1568 and required reconstruction after a fire damaged it in 1789.
The church interior contains late-medieval frescoes, cedarwood sculptures, and azulejo tile panels that represent artistic traditions from the 16th to 18th centuries.
Visitors can explore the church from Monday through Saturday between 8:30 AM and 6:30 PM, with reduced hours on Sundays until noon.
The church houses a collection of 16th-century embroidered vestments made of gold on tapestry and Jacaranda wood furniture in its sacristy.
