Church of Campanhã

The Church of Campanhã is a place of worship with a single nave built from granite stonework and a bell tower positioned on the right side. The facade and right side of the bell tower display monochromatic blue tiles, while the main altar features restored gilded woodwork from the 18th century.

This place of worship was built in 1714 around the same time as the nearby Freixo Palace. It suffered heavy damage during armed conflicts in 1809, 1832, and 1834.

Inside you can see a colored limestone sculpture of Nossa Senhora de Campanhã dating to the 14th century and religious paintings with sacred scenes. These works reflect how local people have honored their patron saint over the centuries.

The building is located on Rua do Falcão in Porto and is open to visitors. Regular religious services take place, so visitors should plan accordingly when exploring the religious architecture.

The blue tiles covering the facade and bell tower are unusual for a church of this period and give the structure a distinctive appearance. This color feature makes the building easy to spot in the neighborhood.
