Parque Oriental da Cidade do Porto, Urban park in Campanhã, Portugal.
Parque Oriental da Cidade do Porto is a large urban park situated on the banks of the Douro River in Campanhã. The grounds feature wide walking paths, open grassland, sports facilities, and several rest areas for visitors.
The park was designed in the 1960s by French architect Robert Auzelle, with construction starting in 1991 under landscape architect Sidónio Pardal. The project was part of Porto's urban renewal efforts at the end of the 20th century.
The park is a place where locals exercise, walk, and spend time with family during weekends and evenings. You will see people jogging, cycling, or relaxing on the grass when the weather is nice.
The park is accessible 24 hours a day and has public restrooms, bicycle parking, and clear pathways throughout. Visitors should know that paths extend toward the ocean, so longer walks are possible depending on where you start.
This site was the first of its kind in Portugal to receive international environmental certifications, showing it took sustainability seriously from an early stage. These recognitions are documented on information signs throughout the park.
