Tudor Vladimirescu Cula

The Tudor Vladimirescu Cula is a defensive tower in Cerneți built with massive brick columns, three rooms, and a long corridor with a utility space. Ten thick pillars support the upper floor, while a vaulted basement runs beneath the structure.

The tower was built around 1800 by Tudor Vladimirescu following a destructive raid by Turkish forces that burned Cerneți. It served as a protective structure during the late Ottoman period in Wallachia.

The structure shows typical features of Romanian defensive building with its vaulted basement and narrow openings for weapons, designed to protect residents from outside threats. These architectural choices reflect the practical concerns that people had when building such protective structures in that era.

The monument is visible from outside but needs significant repair work due to water damage affecting the roof structure. Visitors should understand the building's deteriorated condition may limit access to certain areas.

The building features a heavy oak door providing access to the basement level, showing how seriously security was considered in its design. Such reinforced entrance construction was typical for defensive towers of that period.
