Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street

Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street connects Mokhovaya Street to Garden Ring and lies between Vozdvizhenka Street and Tverskaya Street in central Moscow. The street stretches about 1.5 km and is lined with a mix of classical buildings and modern structures that reflect different periods of Moscow's architecture.

In medieval times this street was a main route to the cities of Volokolamsk and Novgorod, known then as Volotskaya and Novgorodskaya Street. It developed over centuries into a vital link in the heart of Moscow and retained its importance to the present day.

The street is home to the Moscow Conservatory and numerous theaters where musical performances and theatrical productions happen regularly. These institutions shape the artistic life of the city and draw people interested in music and performing arts.

The western section contains numerous neoclassical mansions that form part of Moscow's Embassy Row, competing with nearby Povarskaya Street in prestige. These elegant residences showcase the architecture that attracted diplomats and wealthy merchants during the 19th century.
