Vykhino, Railway and metro station in Vykhino-Zhulebino District, Russia
Vykhino is a combined metro and suburban railway complex in the Vykhino-Zhulebino district in southeastern Moscow. The facility operates multiple platforms for both systems functioning side by side at the same location.
The station opened in 1966 as Zhdanovskaya and received its current name in 1988. Its role changed when the metro line was extended in 2013.
The station takes its name from the Vykhino district, which Moscow incorporated in 1960 and whose character shaped the area.
Passengers switching between metro and suburban rail must exit the main station area and use two elevated pedestrian bridges. This transfer layout requires attention when first visiting the location.
The station has an unusual feature: passengers between the two systems move across separate elevated platforms over open sections of track. This exposed layout sets it apart from typical underground stations.
