Kama dam

The Kama Dam extends for 1,810 meters across the Kama River, incorporating ten turbine-generators that produce electricity for the surrounding regions.

The construction of this power infrastructure began in 1955, with the first generator starting operations in 1961 and full completion achieved in 1965.

The structure received recognition as a regional cultural heritage site, representing the industrial development of Perm Krai during the mid-twentieth century.

With an installed capacity of 1,100 MW, the dam generates 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours annually while maintaining water levels for navigation and local supply.

The facility combines both concrete gravity and embankment structures, rising 35 meters high while creating the vast Votkinsk Reservoir of 9.4 billion cubic meters.
