Meshkov Mansion, Neoclassical mansion in Perm, Russia.
The Meshkov Mansion is a Neoclassical building in Perm featuring symmetrical facades, decorative arches, and elaborate plasterwork details. The exterior displays Corinthian columns and ornate balconies that showcase the craftsmanship of the period.
The building was constructed between 1887 and 1889 by architect A. B. Turchevich after fires in 1842 destroyed earlier structures on the site. Its construction marked the rebuilding and modernization of this important city area.
The mansion reflects the taste of wealthy factory owners from the late 1800s who mixed classical and modern design ideas together. Visitors can see today how the family lived then, as the rooms are furnished with furniture and objects from that era.
The building now hosts the main branch of the Perm Regional Museum following major restoration work that began in 2007. Visitors should allow enough time to explore all the exhibitions and the architecture of the building itself.
The mansion complex includes a two-story outbuilding and a carriage shed surrounded by three retaining walls that integrate into the urban landscape. These supporting structures show how the original estate was built into the rising slope of the hillside.
