Molotovugol, Regional cultural heritage site in Perm, Russia
Molotovugol is a four-story building in central Perm with stone lion sculptures framing its entrance and situated along the riverbank. The structure retains its original architectural details including stonework and decorative elements from its construction period.
The building was constructed in 1946 during the coal mining boom and served as headquarters for the Molotovugol industrial complex. It was built when the city bore the name Molotov and mining dominated the local economy.
Miner statues adorn the fourth-floor balcony, reflecting the industrial identity that once defined the region. These sculptures remain visible reminders of how mining shaped the community's character.
The building is situated on Monastyrskaya Street in the city center and is easily reached on foot, especially from the riverfront area. The facade and lion sculptures are clearly visible from public spaces and can be viewed from outside without special arrangements.
The limestone lions at the entrance have become so characteristic that locals call the building Dom so Lvami, which means the House with the Lions. This nickname has persisted for decades and is now part of how residents identify the place.
