Мост через Амурскую протоку, Road bridge in Khabarovsk Region, Russia
The bridge across the Amur Channel is a road crossing in Khabarovsk that links the mainland with Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island. It spans nearly 1 kilometer and allows vehicle traffic year-round over the waterway.
The road opened in 2013 and replaced an earlier seasonal crossing system. In summer and fall a floating bridge was used, while in winter an ice road served the route.
The bridge construction marked a turning point in Russian-Chinese relations, enhancing connectivity between Khabarovsk Region and Heilongjiang Province.
The crossing provides reliable passage throughout the year and rises 13 meters above the water. This height is important for maintaining stability through changing weather and water conditions.
The previous floating bridge was Russia's largest automatic floating bridge and required four days of assembly each season. This laborious procedure is now completely unnecessary.
