Chapayev monument

Chapayev monument is a bronze equestrian statue of a Soviet military commander located on a plaza in front of a military academy in Saint Petersburg. The sculpture depicts the central figure wielding a raised weapon and is surrounded by six additional statues representing different groups of supporters.

Sculptor Matvey Manizer created this bronze work in 1933 as the second casting of an original design that was previously installed in another city. The statue dates from an era when the Soviet Union was building heroic monuments to honor its military leaders.
