Chapayev monument, Military monument near Sosnovka Park, Saint Petersburg, Russia
The monument features commander Chapaev on horseback with a curved saber, surrounded by six figures representing different social groups of revolutionaries.
Created by sculptor Matvey Manizer in 1933, this monument was the second casting of the original design first installed in Samara.
The sculpture represents Soviet military leadership through the figure of Vasiliy Chapaev, who led Red Army forces during the Russian Civil War.
The monument stands in front of the Military Academy of the Signals Corps, accessible via the Politekhnicheskaya metro station.
Alexander Chapaev, the commander's son, served as the physical model for the sculptor's representation of his father in the monument.
