Park of Stones, Open-air sculpture museum in Krymsky Val, Russia
Park of Stones is an open-air museum displaying over 1,000 sculptures and monuments arranged in multiple themed sections, including Portrait Row and Oriental Garden areas. The works span different artistic styles and periods, spread across a spacious ground.
The park was founded in 1991 shortly after the Soviet Union dissolved, gathering monuments removed from Moscow's streets. These works document the shift in how Soviet history came to be viewed.
The collection features statues of Soviet leaders and important figures that reflect different periods of Russian history. As you walk through the park, you can notice the differences in style and representation across the various time periods.
The park is located between Park Kultury and Oktyabrskaya metro stations and is open throughout the day and night with no entrance fees. There are wide pathways for comfortable walking, allowing time to view individual sculptures at your own pace.
Many of the works gathered here were created by artists who were well-known during Soviet times, using craftsmanship techniques that have become rare today. This assembly allows visitors to experience Soviet artistic traditions firsthand.
