Permyak Salty Ears

The Permyak Salty Ears monument features a circular frame with large ears and a photographer figure, creating an interactive photo opportunity point.

Funded by Binbank and unveiled in 2006, this monument references the salt mining heritage of Perm, where workers carried heavy salt bags on their shoulders.

The monument represents a local nickname for Perm inhabitants, derived from salt workers whose ears would become red and swollen from carrying salt bags.

The sculpture stands near Hotel Prikamye on Komsomolsky Prospekt, providing visitors an opportunity to take photographs by placing their faces in the frame.

In 2009, Russian World magazine recognized this bronze installation as the most unusual monument in the entire Russian Federation.
