Rostov Railway Museum, Railway museum at Gnilovskaya Station, Rostov-on-Don, Russia.
Rostov Railway Museum houses over 60 locomotives and carriages displayed on historic tracks at the former station. The collection shows different railway vehicles from various periods and demonstrates the evolution of rail technology.
The museum started in 1960 at a railway workers' cultural center and later moved to Gnilovskaya Station, opening there in 2003. This relocation made it possible to display actual railway vehicles on the station grounds itself.
The name comes from the historic railway station where it stands today. Visitors can see how central rail transport was to the city's development and how people connected with this technology across generations.
The museum is easy to reach and offers spacious tracks to explore, allowing you to view the vehicles from different angles. Information is best obtained through guided tours that lead you through the different railway vehicles and their features.
Among the vehicles is a rare chemical tank car from the late 1800s, showing how railways were used for cargo transport back then. The museum also preserves narrow-gauge locomotives that reflect the engineering progress of Russian rail technology.
