Spasskiy Bridge, Highway bridge complex on MKAD, Moscow, Russia
Spasskiy Bridge is a dual structure spanning the Moscow River along the MKAD ring road, with a combined length exceeding 200 meters and multiple lanes for traffic flow. The original arch design from 1962 was later joined by a second bridge in 1997 to handle increasing traffic demands on the outer ring.
The original bridge was completed in 1962 under engineer V.D. Vasiliev and architect K.P. Saveliev to cross the Moscow River. A second parallel structure was added in 1997 to meet increasing traffic demands on the outer ring road.
The bridge takes its name from the former village of Spas that once stood nearby, showing how modern infrastructure expanded over the city's historic settlements.
The bridge is accessible via the MKAD ring road and serves as a traffic infrastructure without public viewing areas. Your best view comes from driving along the ring road or stopping at nearby spots along the river embankment to observe the structure.
The original arch features three spans with the central span reaching 90 meters to allow river traffic to pass underneath. This design permitted boats to navigate the Moscow River without disrupting the road above.
