The church was founded in 1694 by Boris Ivanovich Prozorovsky as the chapel of a country estate. Over the 18th century it was expanded and took on its current form, before being restored and reopened for worship after the Soviet period.
The church is named after two brothers, Boris and Gleb, who were among the first saints recognized by the Russian Orthodox Church and are venerated as martyrs. Visitors who step inside can see icons dedicated to them and attend Orthodox services that still take place there regularly.
