Graninge stiftsgård

Graninge stiftsgård is a three-story building featuring large bay windows that overlook Baggensfjärden in Nacka Municipality. The structure showcases varied architectural styles and commands attention with its distinctive shape along the waterfront.

A bank director commissioned this summer residence in 1909 from prominent architects who blended contemporary and traditional elements into its design. The diocese later acquired the property and converted it into a retreat space for religious activities.

The name reflects its role as a stiftsgård, a Nordic tradition of manor houses serving both spiritual and social functions. The interior spaces reveal how such properties hosted gatherings and retreats for religious communities.

The waterfront location along Baggensfjärden makes for easy access to the building, best enjoyed on mild weather days. Walking paths and views of the water surround the area and enhance the visit.

The building displays a rare blend of national romantic and classicist elements that reflects the architectural transition of the early 1900s. This stylistic fusion was uncommon among Swedish manor houses of that era.
