Kanalhuset, Göteborg

Kanalhuset is a large modern office building on the waterfront in Gothenburg with extensive glass facades that face the harbor. The structure spans multiple floors and contains different work areas and studios for the media organizations based here.

The building was designed by architects Krook & Tjäder and completed in 2003 after an initial purpose was abandoned. It then became a media production center and has served as such for the Swedish broadcasting organizations.

The building houses major broadcasters that shape the media landscape for the entire country, with newsrooms and studios defining the daily rhythm of this waterfront district. Visitors can sense the energy of live production happening throughout the space.

The building sits directly on a canal, making it easy to spot from the water and nearby areas. It is accessible by public transport and located in a modern harbourside district with clear navigation.

The building houses a particularly large television studio where daily broadcasts are produced live, while upper floors contain a separate radio studio with its own theater space. This separation of television and radio operations under one roof is distinctive and allows simultaneous productions.
