Saudi Arabia provided complete funding for the construction of the Gothenburg Mosque, which opened its doors to the public in June 2011.

The facility includes conference rooms, lecture halls, offices, a kitchen, and washing areas for religious ablutions before prayer ceremonies.
Architect Björn Sahlqvist incorporated Scandinavian design elements into the mosque structure, emphasizing natural light and spatial arrangements throughout the building.
