Kuggen, Office building in Lindholmen Science Park, Sweden.
Kuggen is an office building with a striking cylindrical form and a facade covered in red ceramic tiles. The exterior displays triangular windows arranged in a spiral pattern around its full circumference.
The building was completed by Wingårdh Arkitektkontor in March 2011 as part of Lindholmen Science Park's development. It emerged during a period when Gothenburg was expanding its modern workspaces for innovative enterprises.
The building hosts professionals who bridge academic research and business, gathering in shared spaces for collaborations and meetings. People from different fields work side by side in its open areas designed for exchange.
The interior contains an elevator and multiple staircases that wrap around a central atrium. The floor spaces grow wider as you move upward, creating increasing room for different types of work areas.
The upper floors feature a rotating screen system that adjusts with the sun throughout the day. This mechanism keeps indoor temperatures between 72 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit (22 to 26 degrees Celsius) without heavy air conditioning.
