Betnava Mansion features an 18th-century baroque architectural design with detailed facade elements and large surrounding gardens near Maribor.
The mansion transformed from a 14th-century fortified structure to a Renaissance water castle before its reconstruction in baroque style following a fire in 1685.
The estate passed through several noble families including Herberstein, Khiessl, Auersperg, Orsini-Rosenberg, Zekel, and Brandis before becoming a bishop residence.
The mansion, returned to the Diocese of Maribor in 1999, stands at coordinates 46.52908 latitude and 15.639829 longitude in the Razvanje district.
German forces seized control of this national monument during World War II, marking a period of state ownership that lasted until the late 20th century.
