Váha

Hunfalvy-Joch is a mountain pass in the High Tatras situated at around 2340 meters elevation between distinctive peaks. The area features steep slopes and opens views into the adjacent valleys on both sides.

The pass was opened with marked trails in the late 19th century when the high mountain region became accessible to tourists. This development formed the foundation of mountain tourism in this part of the Tatras.

The name refers to the shape of the mountain pass, which lies like a weighing scale between two valleys. Visitors notice the symmetrical arrangement of the landscape that reflects this geographical character.

Access is via marked trails from Popradské pleso, with the best hiking season running from June through October. Visitors should expect changeable weather at this elevation and prepare with appropriate gear.

The pass connects two different valley systems and creates a geographically important link between distinct natural areas. This makes it a favored route for experienced hikers who want to explore two valley landscapes in one hike.
