Chok Chai

Chok Chai is an administrative district in Nakhon Ratchasima comprising ten sub-districts spread across approximately 504 square kilometers. The landscape consists mainly of agricultural fields and small settlements situated at roughly 182 meters in elevation.

The district was originally called Krathok but was renamed to Chok Chai in 1945. This name change was connected to a significant military event during that period of Thai history.

Local markets throughout the area display fresh produce and livestock, showing how central farming is to life in northeastern Thailand. The way people buy and sell goods reflects the rhythm of a rural community.

The area is administered by three municipalities that manage local services across the region. There are roughly 132 villages where visitors can experience local life and customs.

The climate here experiences extreme shifts, with temperatures varying sharply between cool mornings and hot afternoons throughout the year. These weather patterns significantly shape agricultural cycles and daily routines.
