Si Sa Ket, Administrative province in Northeast Thailand

Si Sa Ket province extends across the Mun River valley, with forests covering 11.5 percent of its territory and the Dângrêk mountains defining its southern border with Cambodia.

The province, formerly known as Sri Nakorn Lamduan and Khukhan, changed its name to Si Sa Ket in 1938 and maintains numerous Khmer Empire ruins throughout its territory.

Four distinct ethnic groups inhabit Si Sa Ket: the Kui, Lao, Khmer, and Yer communities, with 26.2 percent of the population speaking the northern Khmer language.

The northeastern railway line connects Si Sa Ket to Bangkok's Hua Lamphong station, while regular bus services operate from the Northern Bus Terminal to various provincial destinations.

The Khao Phra Wihan National Park, established in 1998, spans 130 square kilometers and contains the disputed Prasat Preah Vihear temple at the Thai-Cambodian border.
