Khon San, Administrative district in Chaiyaphum, Thailand
Khon San is an administrative district in the northeastern part of Chaiyaphum province, Thailand. It is made up of several subdistricts set across rolling terrain, linked by local roads that connect smaller villages throughout the area.
The area developed as a settlement during the Rattanakosin period before being formally recognized as a district in 1959. That recognition followed a gradual growth of local communities across the territory.
The name Khon San comes from a Thai word referring to the areca palm, which once grew widely across the area. Visitors today can still spot these palms near farmland and village homes as a living trace of that past.
The district is reached by local roads and minor highways that connect its subdistricts. Moving around is most straightforward during the dry season, when road conditions across the hilly terrain are at their best.
Natural springs found throughout the district supply water even during dry months, which has made year-round farming possible in an area that would otherwise depend entirely on seasonal rain. This steady water supply set Khon San apart from many neighboring districts in the province.
