Lukang Kinmen Hall, Temple hall in Lukang Township, Taiwan
Lukang Kinmen Hall is a two-story prayer house with traditional Taiwanese design featuring hand-carved stone decorations and intricate wooden framework throughout. The building rises vertically with rooms arranged on each level to accommodate gatherings of different sizes.
The building was originally established in 1805 as Wu Jiang Guan by Xu Le-shan's son and experienced severe damage from an earthquake in 1848. A major restoration in 1855 returned it to function and added new commemorative elements to mark this period.
The hall served as a central gathering space for local residents and navy members, with a dedicated area for enshrining Sufu Wangye.
The location sits within Lukang's historic quarter and is best explored on foot to see surrounding sites. Plan your visit during quieter hours if you want space to move around and examine details without crowding.
An engraved stone tablet sits in the sacrificial chamber as a record added during the 1855 restoration work to honor naval support. Many visitors walk past this piece without noticing the detail and meaning behind its placement.
