Lukang Folks Art Museum, Art museum in Lukang Township, Taiwan.
Lukang Folks Art Museum is an art museum in Lukang Township that houses about 6,000 objects displayed within a striking building featuring two symmetrical domes. The structure blends Japanese Baroque architecture with traditional Chinese design elements to create a large complex for the collections.
The building was originally constructed in 1919 as a residence for wealthy businessman Koo Hsien-jung. A family donation in 1973 transformed it into a public museum that has displayed historical objects ever since.
The collection displays objects from the Ming and Qing periods that reveal how people lived and worked in this region. Visitors encounter old photographs, lacquerware, porcelain, carved stones, embroidery, and musical instruments that show local traditions.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 to 17:00 and is located at 152 Zhongshan Road. Direct bus connections from Changhua Station make reaching it straightforward and convenient.
The building was designed by Japanese architect Moriyama Matsunosuke, who also created the Presidential Office Building. This notable architect was responsible for the National Museum of Taiwan Literature as well.
