Golden Waterfall, Mineral waterfall in Ruifang District, Taiwan
The Golden Waterfall is a waterfall in Lianxin Village displaying yellow-gold tints due to minerals like sulfur, arsenic, and copper ore in the surrounding soil. The falling water creates a colored landscape that changes depending on light and water flow.
During Japanese occupation, this area contained a gold mining factory that transformed the regional landscape through large-scale mineral extraction. This mining activity left geological marks that influence the waterfall's appearance today.
The adjacent Yin Yang Sea shows where yellow mineral water meets blue ocean water, embodying Chinese concepts of duality. This natural sight has made the location meaningful as a place where opposites come together.
The site is located near the Gold Ecological Park in Jinguashi and is freely accessible around the clock. The best time to visit is after rainfall, when water flow is stronger and colors appear more vivid.
The yellow rocks along the waterfall are continuously formed through natural geological processes as minerals create ongoing deposits. This ongoing process makes the site a living example of how geology shapes our landscape.
