Mount Keelung rises 588 meters above sea level, featuring a main trail that winds through three pagodas before reaching the recreational pavilion at the top.
The mountain belongs to the Chilung Volcano Group, formed one million years ago, with volcanic compositions of Dacite that created deposits of gold and copper.
Mount Keelung stands as the first among the 10 Gold Ridgeline Hikes, established by hiker Lin Tsung-sheng, representing northeastern Taiwan's mountain traditions.
The 2.2-kilometer trail consists of stone and wooden steps, requiring approximately one hour to reach the summit for most visitors.
From the summit platform, visitors observe Bitoujiao Lighthouse, Yinyan Sea, Keelung Islet, and Taipei 101 within a 10-kilometer panoramic radius.
