Jilongshan

Jilongshan is a mountain summit near Jiufen standing at 588 meters, featuring a main route marked by three pagodas that guides hikers toward the peak. A recreational pavilion at the top provides rest areas and viewing platforms.

The mountain belongs to a volcanic group formed approximately one million years ago, composed of Dacite rock with volcanic origins. This geological past created mineral deposits, including gold and copper, within the mountain's structure.

The mountain holds significance as a gathering point for hikers and nature enthusiasts from nearby towns, with its pathways well-tended by regular visitors. Local communities value it as a place to connect with the landscape and each other.

The hiking route covers about 2.2 kilometers with stone and wooden steps, taking most visitors roughly one hour to reach the summit. Wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water, especially on warmer days, to make the climb easier.

From the summit, visitors with clear skies can see several landmarks including a coastal lighthouse and the Taipei skyline within view. This expansive vista reveals the region's diverse landscape spanning from mountains to coast to urban areas.
