Cyuanji Temple, Temple of Kwan Tai in Ruifang District, Taiwan
Cyuanji Temple is a temple of Kwan Tai in the Ruifang district of Taiwan, marked by a large bronze statue of Guanyu that faces the ocean. The structure combines Eastern and Western architectural elements, with detailed stonework visible throughout the complex.
The temple was founded in 1896 and is one of three main sanctuaries in the Jinguashi area, which was then a significant mining center. Its founding reflected the local community's effort to maintain spiritual traditions during a period of rapid change.
The stone pillars carry carved scenes of birds, plants, and human figures that tell stories through their imagery. Walking slowly through the complex, visitors can see how this craft reflects local artistic traditions passed down over generations.
The temple is open every day and has parking on the grounds, which makes it easy to reach by car. Clear pathways throughout the site allow visitors to move between the different areas of the complex without difficulty.
The golden figure of the deity Guan was transported in pieces from Tangshan and is considered a rare artifact in Taiwan. The parts were carefully assembled on site, creating a statue that exists in this form nowhere else on the island.
