Golden Child, Bronze monument near Port Station in Odesa, Ukraine

The Golden Child monument features a large infant figure emerging from a metallic egg structure, standing approximately 4 meters tall at the port entrance. The sculpture is surrounded by other significant artworks in the area, including memorials dedicated to Vera Cholodna and General Radetzky.

The monument was created in 1995 by artist Ernst Neizvestny to commemorate the 50th anniversary of victory in World War II. Major components of the sculpture were transported from New York to Odesa for its assembly.

The figure represents childhood and new beginnings, serving as a hopeful symbol in the maritime setting. You can see how locals and visitors treat it as a special landmark that speaks to renewal and future possibilities.

The monument is located near the port station on Primorskaya Street and is easy to visit when exploring the harbor area. Daytime visits work best for viewing the bronze figure clearly and seeing the surrounding sculptures and architectural features.

The bronze toddler is among the world's largest baby monuments and draws visitors who touch its toes to seek maritime fortune. This unusual gesture has become a popular ritual with travelers and locals who pass through the harbor area.
