Golden Gate Garden Square

The garden surrounding the reconstructed medieval gate features stone pathways, seating areas, and planted beds containing local plant species. Information signs throughout the space explain details about the plants and the site's past.

The medieval gate originated during the era of Yaroslav the Wise and was later reconstructed to restore its original appearance. The surrounding green space received official protection in 1972 to preserve this important historical location.

The square connects residents and visitors with the medieval gate and its surroundings as a single experience where old and new Kyiv coexist. People naturally gather here to rest and take in how the city has built around this ancient landmark.

The space is easily accessible via Zoloti Vorota metro station and has plenty of seating throughout. Visiting during daylight hours makes it easy to see the pathways, planted areas, and read the information signs.

Several plants in the garden have been rooted here since the 19th century and have witnessed Kyiv's entire modern development. These botanical specimens allow visitors to understand the city's transformation in a living, tangible way.
