9 Reitarska Street

The building on Reitarska Street is a yellow brick structure designed in Renaissance Revival style with two stories, symmetrical proportions, and a grand archway entrance. Decorative frames surround the windows and demonstrate careful architectural craftsmanship.

In the late 1800s, sexton Yakov Kiyak acquired the property and reshaped it from a larger estate into a residential complex with gardens. This transformation marked the shift from rural land to urban housing.

The composer Mykola Lysenko made his home here from 1888 to 1894, and his presence shaped the musical character of this corner of the city. The building became known among Kyiv's artistic circles during this period.

The location offers easy walking access to nearby coffee shops, boutiques, and restaurants throughout the historic district. Visitors can explore the surrounding streets on foot and naturally find their way through the neighborhood.

A raven aviary was built in the courtyard during the 1990s and remains a surprising feature today. Local residents care for the birds, creating an unusual attraction that few visitors expect to find.
