Provisions Belts Church Holy Virgin in Lviv

Provisions Belts Church Holy Virgin is a place of worship in Sykhiv district built from red brick with reinforced concrete, drawing inspiration from Byzantine architectural style. The spacious interior serves the needs of a large congregation during regular services and community gatherings.

Construction began in the 1990s after Ukraine's long period of state atheism, marking a return to public religious life. This development occurred when many faith communities were rebuilding their places of worship across the country.

The interior combines traditional religious art with contemporary design in a restrained and thoughtful way. Visitors can see how the space brings together ancient traditions and modern sensibility in a place of worship.

Architect Radoslav Zuk won the State Prize of Ukraine in 2011 for this design, which was built with help from local volunteers. The partnership between the architect and community members made this a distinctive example of modern church building in Ukraine.
