Harrison sits at an elevation of 320 meters in the Ozark Mountains along Crooked Creek, approximately 80 miles south of Springfield, Missouri.
The town emerged in 1869 when Union General M. LaRue Harrison designed the layout, leading to its incorporation as a town in 1876.
The Lyric Theatre functions as a central venue for regional performances, presenting plays, concerts, and films under the direction of the Ozark Arts Council.
North Arkansas College provides two-year degree programs to students, offering educational opportunities in various fields since its establishment in 1973.
The Missouri and North Arkansas Railway arrival in 1900 transformed Harrison into a distribution center for livestock, dairy products, timber, and mineral resources.
