Harrison, County seat in Boone County, Arkansas, United States.

Harrison is a county seat in Boone County, Arkansas, and sits at an elevation of 1,050 feet (320 meters) in the Ozark Mountains along Crooked Creek. The town is located about 80 miles (129 kilometers) south of Springfield, Missouri, and functions as a local center for education and public services.

The settlement emerged in 1869 when Union General M. LaRue Harrison designed the layout, gaining official town status in 1876. The arrival of the Missouri and North Arkansas Railway in 1900 transformed the place into a key hub for regional agriculture and forestry.

The Lyric Theatre serves as a central stage for regional performances, presenting plays, concerts, and films under the direction of the Ozark Arts Council. Residents from across Boone County use this venue as a cultural meeting point.

North Arkansas College offers two-year degree programs in several fields and has served as a local educational facility since its founding in 1973. Visitors can navigate the downtown area on foot, as most public buildings stand within short walking distance of one another.

The local courthouse ranks among the oldest continuously used administrative buildings in this part of Arkansas. Several tree species in the nearby forests once supplied timber for railroad ties and wooden barrels.
