Ohio Wesleyan University is a liberal arts college in Delaware, Ohio, with a campus of about 200 acres (80 hectares). The grounds include red brick buildings in Victorian style alongside modern facilities such as residence halls with tall windows and science laboratories.
Delaware residents purchased Mansion House Hotel in 1842 and founded this Methodist educational institution there. During the 20th century, the college expanded its curriculum and admitted female students.
Students perform in Chappelear Drama Center and organize events in Smith Hall throughout the year. Many also take classes at Sanborn Astronomy Center or work in Beeghly Library.
The campus sits north and south of Sandusky Street in the downtown area and can be explored on foot. Visitors may enter public spaces such as libraries and exhibition rooms during opening hours.
Perkins Observatory sits about 6 miles (9 kilometers) from the main campus and houses a telescope dating from 1923. Schuyler House serves as a residence hall and carries the name of an early professor.
